Rewind Pause or Fast Forward
My husband, David, and I were talking the other night. He asked me a really great question, “Would you rather have a rewind or pause button on your life?” The question was a bit difficult to answer. I immediately chose rewind wishing that I could go back and have that last conversation with a dear friend who passed away, relive our wedding day over again, or see the faces of our three little girls on the days they were born. But then again, loving the stage we’re in with our family, I also really wished I could slow down and pause life.
Maybe it’s not the rewind or pause button you want right now, but rather, the fast forward button. Life circumstances can sometimes be unbearable, and you just want to get through them as quickly as possible. I can definitely relate.
There have been moments where I felt hopeless, and I just wanted to get through it as quickly as possible. I had a pastor who once told me that you’re either going into it, going through it, or coming out of it. The hard seasons of life are guaranteed, but they are also for our good. Maybe instead of sprinting through it, we need to lean into God.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” God is working things out for our good, and His glory is present even in those seasons we wish we could fast forward through.
