Hold Your Hand

A few years ago, I had to get surgery on my right eye.  This would be an outpatient surgery, so not serious, but I was a bit anxious.  I was to be awake for the surgery.  Not my preference.

So, I’m laying there on the operating table, waiting for the surgery to begin. I couldn’t see anything because they put numbing drops in my eye.  With the bright lights, I just couldn’t see a thing.  And, honestly, I was really scared at that point.

Hold Your HandSuddenly, I felt the presence of someone.  A lady came and sat next to me.  She took my hand and spoke comforting, reassuring words.  She explained that she would hold my hand through the entire procedure, and that everything would be okay.

I had no idea who this lady was, and never saw her, but it was so comforting that she held my hand the whole time!

This reminds me of a promise I recently came across in the Bible.

In Isaiah 41:13, God promises to hold your hand through difficult times:

"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, 'Do not fear, for I will help you.'"

If you are facing hard times right now, try to imagine the God of the universe reaching down to hold your hand.  That's how close God is to you.

The Lord is our Hero, and His love never fails!
