The Ugliest Dog In The Pound

Something that my friend Jeremiah posted on Facebook the other day really resonated with me....and I hope it will with you, too.

IMAGINE ... you're at the animal shelter. and a guy walks in. He says, “please show me the oldest, ugliest, meanest, smelliest dog you've got in the cage. Point me to the one closest to being put down. I want to adopt that one.”

They look at the man & ask, “are you sure? He'll probably bite you. He'll probably run off. He ain't much to look at, his breath is nasty, he's a mutt & won't be good with other people because he was abused. He's full of worms & other disease. Even after a bath he stinks.”

“That sounds perfect," he replies. “If I don't save him then no one will. Bring him over to me. I want to give him a hug & show him to my Dad!”

That's how I view Jesus, The Father, and me. They are aware that without Them, I'm sitting in prison, awaiting a death sentence. They don't love me IN SPITE of my sin. They love me BECAUSE of it.

I might bite & snarl, run off; get nasty or beat up ... but They still choose me because of Their limitless, perfect kindness. That's one of the best ways I can describe God's heart.

Reading that really touched me, and I shared it on Friday afternoon.  If you'd like to talk to someone about your relationship with God...or just pray with someone?  Here's a number for you.  Someone is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  877-800-PRAY
