I Choose You

Friday, March 03, 2017

View Full Post   The people who often get chosen are the pretty, handsome, talented, popular ones. It's not often that you hear a story where someone who's not quite like everyone else is given the opportunity to do something special. This is one of those stories ;-)

Cookbook Gift For My Valentine

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

View Full Post   Took a quick journey to the bookstore on Valentines Day, looking for a cookbook I could give to Nance as a gift. She loves to cook, so I thought it would be special. As I looked over the titles, ONE of the books just jumped off the rack at me. But for all the wrong reasons. I'm sure she's a FINE cook. But I believe I would rename that book. Someone in marketing sure should have caught that ;-)

There's Gold & Silver In Them There Smartphones!

Thursday, February 02, 2017

View Full Post   Saw an article today with the headline, “Recycled Smartphones Will Be Used To Make Medals For 2020 Tokyo Olympics”. Really??? Allright, I’m curious. So I read a little further. And I learned they will need millions of discarded phones, recovering 8 tons of precious metals, to make 5,000 Gold, Silver & Bronze medals. And here’s something that I absolutely didn’t know....16% of the worlds Gold Reserves are traveling around with us in our SmartPhones...And 22% of the Silver Reserves. Now, I knew I had a lot of precious DATA in this iPhone. But that much gold & silver? Ok, I guess I understand how they will be able to make those Olympic medals. Although it would be really funny to see them hang a smartphone around the neck of the guy or gal that just won the 100 yd dash, with a picture of the medal on the home screen. ;-)

Making People Feel Special

Wednesday, February 01, 2017

View Full Post   A 5th grade teacher in Charlotte does something very cool with EVERY student at the beginning of EVERY class. He has a special handshake for each kid. Every one of them! And these aren’t easy, one or two move handshakes. They are all-in, hands-slappin’, elbows-rubbin’, feet-kickin’, head-noddin’, handshakes. His memory must be incredible. He meets the kids outside his door, in the hall, and they all do their special handshake before they go into class. Now that’s one cool teacher! And his students are getting some of the highest grades of all the kids in the school. A little bit of kindness can go a LONG way ;-)
